Child Development Advisors

Welcome to our CDA Homepage

Hi my name is Kim Smith and I am one of the Child Development Advisors at Rainbow Creek Elementary. I have a degree in Child and Youth Care Counselling and have been working in the field for 20 years.

Our role at Rainbow creek is to support teachers in a variety of ways, and assist students with social emotional learning. This can include one to one, small group, or universal classroom involvement. The approach is strength based and eclectic. RVS and individual schools create rich learning environments and provide supports to help ensure students reach their full potential.

Breakfast Program

Every morning fruit is available to ALL Rainbow Creek Elementary students and is served from carts outside classrooms.

Rocky View Schools (RVS) recognizes the importance of daily nutrition and believes that healthy eating is a key component in achieving success. Research has proven the link between healthy eating and student learning and performance. “Food for Thought” provides students with a nutritious breakfast in a secure environment to help them concentrate, improve their ability to learn, while supporting a positive classroom environment for students and teachers.
