Welcome to Rainbow Creek Elementary!
Our focus at Rainbow Creek Elementary School is to provide our students with engaging opportunities for learning and growth. We strive to further develop the values of respect, kindness, diversity, inclusion and leadership. We are a diverse school with students who possess a rich and robust mix of skills, personalities and backgrounds. At Rainbow Creek we recognize and celebrate these differences, while also learning from one another.
Rainbow Creek Elementary School recognizes the importance of our students to be literate and numerate. A school-wide literacy focus allows students to enrich their reading and writing skills. As well, it provides teachers with time for literacy collaboration with students. Further, Rainbow Creek Elementary has a rich literacy program led by in-school experts, providing opportunities for students to work in small groupings where possible. In terms of numeracy, we focus upon the mathematical mindset and basics, the foundational skills that are building blocks to understanding. For students to have a solid understanding of numbers and how they work in the world, we focus upon critical thinking and real life applications in numeracy.
Our approach to instructional design focuses on using the principles of Universal Design for Learning to create meaningful experiences for ALL learners. Classroom teachers collaborate with our learning support teachers to create units, lessons and experiences that ensure all students have access to the curriculum and are able to achieve success. Students are encouraged to show what they know in a way that fits their individual learning preferences.
Undoubtedly mental and social-emotional health have been tested by the impacts of the recent Covid pandemic. Our staff have strived throughout to support and nurture our students while also supporting the school community and one another as we all navigate this challenging, ever-changing path. We know it has not been easy, nor is it over, and these efforts to support all stakeholders in terms of mental and social-emotional health will continue to be a key focus of Rainbow Creek Elementary School.
