April 16- School Council Meeting

April 17 – Grade 4 to the Nutrien Center

April 29- No School

The week flew by! Students were busy getting back into routines and working on their learning.

Freezie Friday has started up for the remainder of the year- thank you school council.
A special thanks to Amber for organizing Hot Lunch for Kindergarten students! She saw the need for them to be included last year and made it happen for the little ones.
Thanks to all of the volunteers who support us for daily reading, field trips, special days and activities; we could not make all of these things happen without you!

Coyote spotting on property

A community member told us about recent daily sitings of a coyote on school property. Parents and Guardians, here is safety information you may choose to review with your child. Our staff are aware and will watch for these four-legged visitors.

“Throw rocks, sticks or other objects toward the animal. Shout in a deep voice and maintain eye contact. If the coyote continues to approach, back away slowly and move toward buildings or human activity if the coyote continues to approach. Do not turn away or run.”

Placement Requests

This is your opportunity to indicate preferences for your child’s class placement for the 2024-25 school year! Outline the educational reasons for a specific request, such as a learning style, learning needs. If your child has had on-going, persistent concerns with another student, you can let us know and we can try to separate them into different classes for the upcoming year. Please note, we will try our best to consider your information with the many factors of class placements. Please send an email to Mrs. Rahn, rrahn@rockyview.ab.ca

Freezie Friday
Back by popular demand! Every Friday, Starting April 12, 2024, Freezie Friday, which is a School Council fundraiser that helps raise funds to support our wonderful school, will return once again to Rainbow Creek. Every student from Kindergarten- Grade 6 can purchase a Freezie at the morning break. Freezie helpers will come to each class to sell Freezies for 25¢ each.  Only Two Freezies maximum can be purchased by any student. Please send quarters (max 50¢) with your child on Fridays to purchase.

Thank you, Rainbow Creek families! Because of your outreach and generosity, our school has currently raised $3400 of our $5000 goal for support of Heart & Stroke!

Please note, you should be receiving an email from Heart & Stroke to redeem your child’s Thank You gift card if they qualified after May 1st.  All other prizes will be distributed in May.

If you haven’t registered your child(ren) you still can! The Jump Rope fundraising page will be open until April 26th. Please visit our school fundraising page https://jumpropeforheart.crowdchange.ca/51971 and click “Register to Participate” to help us beat heart disease and stroke or see the attached PDF to help with registering your child(ren).

Hockey Marathon for the Kids

The hockey marathon for kids is currently happening at the Chestermere Recreation Center.

The players love seeing families come and watch them play. It is a very big moral boost for them, and players are starting to struggle, both mentally and physically.

This is a wonderful fundraiser to help support The Alberta Children’s Hospital.
